I remember on our first flip learning some important lessons. I had just finished laying the tiles in the master bathroom shower and my wife walked in and was staring at my work. She noticed a row of tiles that didn’t look completely straight. She made me tear out that crooked tiles and start over because she cared about the details. I wasn’t happy but she was right. The details mattered.

The second lesson I learned was in plumbing. We had just put the floors in and were almost to the finish line. Then we started testing the plumbing. We noticed a slow drain in the master shower. We tried to snake the drain line but didn’t have any luck. We called a plumber to hydro jet the line and still nothing. We put a camera scope down the line and found a tree root had penetrated the drain line. Sure we could have left this for the buyer of the house, but that wasn’t the right thing to do. Since the house didn’t have a crawl space or a basement we had to tear out the floors, break open the concrete, and replace the drain line. But this was the right thing to do.
